I'm training one of my clients for the Furnace Creek 508, an ultra endurance bike race. As a training ride a group decided to ride form Las Vegas to Dante's View which is the high point over looking Death Valley.
A short 130mile stroll with 8500ft of vertical. Here they are on top of the first peak on the way out of town. 7:30 hrs later they got to the last 1/4 mile of the ride, a 14% grade just to say "thank you for coming".
